brassicasA recent study published in The Archives of Neurology tracked the dietary habits of 2148 people over the age of 65 for nearly four years and found out that a HIGHER intake of salad dressing, nuts, fish, tomatoes, poultry, cruciferous vegetables, fruits, and dark and green leafy vegetables and a LOWER intake of high fat dairy products, red meat, organ meat, and butter will likely protect against developing Alzheimer’s dementia. Follow this link to read the full text of the study. The beneficial foods are all staples of the Mediterranean diet, which I often recommend to my patients.
